COP President holds exchange of views with the European Committee on Crime Problems (CDPC)

On 13 June 2023 the COP President Mr Ioannis Androulakis held an exchange of views with the European Committee on Crime Problems (CDPC). At that occasion, Mr Androulakis presented the draft terms of reference for a new committee responsible for the drafting of an additional protocol to CETS 198. In line with the discussions held within the Conference of the Parties to CETS 198 and during its Joint Session with the PC-OC, this work is proposed to start in 2024 and be completed by the end of 2025. The proposal presented to the CDPC underlined that there were no legal impediments for the CDPC, the Conference of the Parties to CETS 198 or other Council of Europe bodies to play a particular role in the drafting of this protocol. Following the exchange of views, the CDPC decided to launch a written procedure for additional consultations to be held in June, with a view to the CDPC approve them in July and transmitting them to the Committee of Ministers.
