Workshop on validating and improving Armenian Risk and Needs Assessment tool

On 23 May 2023, representatives of the Council of Europe office, Ministry of Justice and Probation and Penitentiary services discussed the findings of the study on validating and improving Armenian Risk and Needs Assessment (RNA) tool developed by the Council of Europe (CoE). The purpose of the RNA tool is to set the level of supervision of ex-prisoners after release by the Probation Service. Furthermore, the tool is to be used by probation officers to identify needs and refer probationers to appropriate services as part of their reintegration and supervision plans.

A roadmap on methodology and organisation of data collection necessary for validation and further improvement of the RNA tool was also presented by the CoE consultants. They have highlighted the main areas and factors to be improved to fully meet the Probation Service’s needs and relevant European standards. The participants of the workshop discussed modalities of future cooperation and agreed on the next steps.

This event is part of the Council of Europe’s support within the framework of the Project “Strengthening the Probation Service in Armenia”.  The Project is financed within the framework of the Council of Europe Action Plan for Armenia 2023-2026 and implemented by the Council of Europe.
