The first meeting of the working group for the development of a training Module for the prison staff working with young offenders - was conducted online on 17-18 November 2021.
The meeting resulted in a clear plan of distribution of tasks and deadlines among the members of the working group. At the substance level, the outline of the module and the benchmarks for its development as well as the template module descriptor were presented and agreed.
The activity builds on the results of the Strategy for the development of human resources in the penitentiary system of the Republic of Moldova and the revised Curriculum for the induction training of prison staff within the prison system, which is an important step forward towards securing the sustainability prison staff training.
The working group meeting was facilitated by the Council of Europe consultants and was attended online by the management of the National Administration of Penitentiaries of Moldova (NAP), representatives of NAP specialised departments (security and penitentiary regime, social reintegration) representatives of NAP Training Centre, directors from individual penitentiaries no. 10 Goian, no.5 Cahul, no.17 Rezina, no.11 Balti and no. 13 Chisinau, and heads of specialised units from these prisons (social reintegration, human resources, security and penitentiary regime).
The activity was organised under the auspices of the Programme “Strengthening the prison and probation reforms, provision of health care and the treatment of patients in closed institutions in the Republic of Moldova”, financed through the Council of Europe Action Plan for the Republic of Moldova (2021-2024) and implemented by the Council of Europe.
