The capacities of Armenian probation officers were enhanced through the improved training curricula

A group of 30 probation officers enhanced their knowledge and skills on a wide range of topics that are of relevance for their everyday practice. The training will ensure that the probation staff provides supervision of offenders, development of advisory reports, as well as the assessment of risks and needs of the beneficiaries in line with Council of Europe standards and best European practices. In addition, the probation officers practiced their motivational interviewing and conflict management skills.

The training was provided in a series of cascade training sessions which were based on revised training modules over the last five months. The training sessions were delivered in collaboration with the trainers who had been trained through training of trainers’ programme earlier within the same project and they are now part of a pool of qualified national trainers.

These activities were organized in-person on the basis of training modules developed/ revised within the Project “Support the scaling-up of the probation service in Armenia” implemented by the Council of Europe and financed through the Council of Europe’s Action Plan for Armenia 2019-2022.
