The Council of Europe is assisting the Moldovan authorities in reorganising probation in line with the European standards and the best practices in the field.
During the first meeting of the Working Group (WG) on 17-18 December 2018 the participants analysed the current structure, functions and existing provisions in the national legislation that need to be revised to increase the efficiency of the National Inspectorate of Probation. By the end of its work, the WG shall present the national authorities with feasible options to optimise the structure of this institution and to introduce a system for evaluation of staff performance.
The WG session was attended by the Head and the Deputy Head of the National Inspectorate of Probation and the representatives of its specialised Departments. It was facilitated by the Council of Europe consultants and organised under the auspices of the programme “Promoting a human rights compliant criminal justice system in the Republic of Moldova”, funded by the Government of Norway and implemented by the Council of Europe.
