Back Meeting of the Ministers’ Deputies on 20 April 2022

At their 1432nd meeting, on 20 April, the Ministers’ Deputies continued to examine the consequences of the aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine.

They approved the draft agenda of the 132nd Session of the Committee of Ministers (Turin, 19-20 May 2022) and took note of the preliminary draft programme prepared by the Italian Chairmanship.

The Deputies adopted a Recommendation of the Committee of Ministers to member States on general principles of fair procedure applicable to anti-doping proceedings in sport and took note of its Explanatory Memorandum [more information …].

Following a presentation by Secretary General Marija Pejčinović Burić, the Deputies held an exchange of views on the 25th consolidated report on the conflict in Georgia, with the participation of Mr Lasha Darsalia, Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of Georgia.

They also held an exchange of views with Mr Alan Mitchell, President of the European Committee for the Prevention of Torture and Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment (CPT) and took note of the 31st general report of the CPT’s activities.

The Secretary General of the Parliamentary Assembly, Ms Despina Chatzivassiliou-Tsovilis, gave an overview of the preparation of the 2nd part of the 2022 Session (Strasbourg, 25-28 April 2022) and other Assembly activities.

Finally, regarding the policy of the Council of Europe towards neighbouring regions, the Deputies welcomed the fact that the neighbourhood partnerships with Morocco and Tunisia for the period 2018-2021 had been implemented successfully.
