The Principality of Monaco hosted the first meeting of the Ministers’ Deputies after the summer break, in Monaco, on 2 September, in the context of its Presidency of the Committee of Ministers. The meeting was opened by Ms Isabelle Berro-Amadeï, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of Monaco and President of the Committee of Ministers [more information …].

The Deputies discussed current political affairs and held their regular exchange with Secretary General Alain Berset [more information …].

They also held a thematic debate on “The environmental crisis through the lens of human rights: scientific findings, legal challenges and political prospects for the Council of Europe”, with presentations by Dr Céline Dubreuil-Degortes, Ocean Policy Division at the Oceanographic Institute of Monaco, and Ms Maša Kovic Dine, Professor of Law at the University of Ljubljana [more information …].

The Deputies adopted a recommendation to Council of Europe member States aimed at helping pupils, students, teachers, parents, workers and citizens of all ages to understand artificial intelligence (AI), use it responsibly and recognise where it can threaten human rights, democracy and the rule of law [more information …].
