A grant agreement to raise awareness about child sexual abuse and exploitation among medical professionals was signed by the Council of Europe project Combating violence against children in the Republic of Moldova with the National Center for Child Abuse Prevention. The grant agreement aims to strengthen the capacities of family doctors, pediatricians and medical assistants in identification and reporting of child sexual abuse and exploitation.

Through this grant several activities will be implemented in the period of September 2020 until the end of April 2021. Among the main activities, the National Center for Child Abuse Prevention will produce a documentary/didactic video on effective response of medical workers to child sexual abuse and exploitation, which will be launched on the European Day on the Protection of Children against Sexual Exploitation and Sexual Abuse; will publish a brochure on recognition and response to child sexual abuse cases and will train around 400 medical workers on the identification and referral of such cases.

The activity is implemented within the first immediate outcome of the project: ”increased awareness on child sexual abuse and exploitation and the rights of the child in the digital environment”.
