As part of the MA-JUST program “Towards a more protective, accessible and efficient justice system in Morocco”, co-financed by the European Union and the Council of Europe, and implemented by the Council of Europe, the European Commission for the Efficiency of Justice (CEPEJ) organized a visit on January 20 and 21, 2025 to three pilot courts: The Casablanca Administrative Court, Rabat Court of First Instance and Rabat Court of Appeal.
CEPEJ experts and court officials worked together to identify each court's priorities in terms of internal operations and management and relations with users, as well as possible opportunities of cooperation to support Moroccan courts in their efforts to modernize and build the capacity of magistrates, court clerks and administrative staff.
Judicial statistics, court management, notification and the opportunities and risks of digitizing Moroccan courts were among the topics discussed with justice professionals during the visit.
CEPEJ experts also met with professional associations of judges and lawyers to take into consideration their perspective on current advances in Moroccan justice and to identify possible areas for improvement.
