The 28th meeting of the Working Group on Quality of Justice (GT-QUAL) took place by videoconference on 24 and 25 September 2020. In the framework of the implementation of the European Ethical Charter on the use of artificial intelligence in judicial systems and their environment, the Group examined a draft feasibility study for the possible introduction of a certification mechanism for artificial intelligence tools and services. The Group also discussed studies on the centrality of the user in judicial procedures in civil matters and on the simplification / clarification of language with litigants.
The Group also launched the study on gender equality in relation to the recruitment and promotion of judges and discussed its future work on mediation. The meeting also provided an opportunity for an exchange of views with the CEPEJ Working Group on Cyberjustice and Artificial Intelligence (CEPEJ-CYBERJUST) in the framework of the coordination of the respective work of these two groups.
