At its next meeting on 15 and 16 February 2021, the CEPEJ Working Group on Quality of Justice (GT-QUAL) should take position on possible actions to implement the European Ethical Charter on the use of artificial intelligence in judicial systems and their environment, adopted in 2018. In particular, it should decide on the follow-up to be given to the Feasibility study on the establishment of a certification mechanism for artificial intelligence tools and services adopted at the CEPEJ plenary meeting last December. The group will also examine draft guidelines on the centrality of the user in legal proceedings and on the simplification of language with litigants, both drawn up on the basis of a comparative study of existing good practices in the member States. A comparative study on gender diversity in the recruitment and promotion of judges will also be discussed. Mediation and training are also on the agenda of the meeting.
