Preparation of the first annual version of the CEPEJ Evaluation Report on the agenda of the meeting of the Working Group on the Evaluation of Judicial Systems (CEPEJ-GT-EVAL)

The CEPEJ Working Group on the Evaluation of Judicial Systems (CEPEJ-GT-EVAL) held its 52nd meeting in Paris, France, on 5 and 6 May 2026 in order to continue implementing the reform of the CEPEJ evaluation cycles, which aims to provide European public decision-makers with the most recent, reliable, and relevant statistical data on judicial systems.

The next CEPEJ Report on Evaluation of European Judicial Systems will be published in December 2026, based on 2025 data. It will be the first report published in an electronic and interactive format and that will provide, on an annual basis, an analysis of European trends in the field of justice, as well as more detailed country profiles including a brief analysis of the situation of each national judicial system and the relevant indicators enabling the country to be positioned in relation to other member States of the Council of Europe. The Working Group will also examine the further development of the CEPEJ-STAT database.

The Group also considered the preparation of the next 2027 cycle for the Evaluation of Judicial Systems (which will be based on 2026 data), as well as the first specific report, to be published in 2027, on the topic of information and communication technologies (ICT), including artificial intelligence, its impact, and the challenges it poses for judicial systems.

Finally, the state of cooperation with the European Commission in the framework of the European Union Justice Scoreboard, Western Balkans, and Eastern Partnership dashboards was also discussed.
