In 2027, the Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe Programme will be 40 years old. To celebrate this milestone, the Enlarged Partial Agreement on Cultural Routes and the European Institute of Cultural Routes are organising a video competition inviting filmmakers to apply their creativity and diverse experiences in short videos that reflect the Programme’s history, beauty and impact.

The competition will highlight and exemplify how the Routes shape or have shaped communities and territories over the past 40 years, what they mean to people today, how they connect people through shared cultural heritage across borders, and how they help interpret the diversity of present-day Europe.

Who can enter?

The competition is open to individual filmmakers and filmmaking teams. Entrants must be people or entities based in one or more member states of the Council of Europe or of the Enlarged Partial Agreement on Cultural Routes.

The video must be a maximum 3 minutes, include English and/or French subtitles and be an original work created for the competition.

Submission deadline: 30 November 2026, 23:59:59 CET.

Prizes

  • First prize: €1,500
  • Second prize: €750
  • Third prize: €500

The jury may also award special mentions to videos in cases of outstanding quality, creativity or relevance to the 40th anniversary. The winners may be invited to contribute with other videos or communication to the 40th anniversary programme.

All entrants whose videos respect the general guidelines will be acknowledged.
