Local authorities can now apply to become the European Youth Capital in 2028

The European Youth Capital (EYC) is a title awarded by the European Youth Forum designed to empower young people, boost youth participation and strengthen European identity. Each year, one European city is given the opportunity to showcase its innovative ideas and projects done by, and for young people, improving youth participation across the continent.

The European Youth Capital title has been bringing communities together since 2009, creating liveable city ecosystems for young people. The winning municipality engages with young people and celebrates their contribution to urban life, leading to a stronger support for youth participation and their rights.

The Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe supports the initiative and is part of the independent EYC jury.

The deadline for applications is 11 February 2025. Municipalities interested in applying can find more information on the European Youth Forum website.
