Congress Rapporteur on Human Rights visits Bulgaria

Congress Standing Rapporteur on Human Rights Gudrun Mosler-Törnström (Austria, SOC/G/PD) carried out a visit to Bulgaria on 3 June to hold a political dialogue with local authorities on the execution of judgments of the European Court of Human Rights in the country at local level. She held discussions with the Deputy Minister Regional Development and Public works  Dora Yankova, as well as with the members of the Bulgarian national delegation to the Congress, Mayor of Sofia Vassil Terziev and Deputy Mayor Nadezhda Bacheva, and the National Association of Municipalities in the Republic of Bulgaria. She was accompanied by Professor Nikos Chlepas (Greece), Congress advisor on constitutional matters and member of the Group of Independent Experts on the European Charter of Local Self-Government, as well as by the Congress Secretariat and the Secretariat of the Council of Europe’s Human Rights Department dealing with the execution of Court judgments.
