40 years ago, the European Charter of Local Self-Government was opened for signature — a milestone that guarantees the rights and autonomy of local authorities across Europe. Signed by all 46 Council of Europe member states, the Charter remains the cornerstone of local democracy. As we mark this anniversary, the original Charter will be on display during the upcoming Congress session.
