Programme 2 : Training and
capacity building of young people and youth organisations
The North-South Centre’s objective in terms of youth is to
provide training and capacity building for young people and youth
organisations as well as to facilitate policy action on youth in
development policies, reinforcing the role of youth as a fundamental
force in the field of North-South interdependence.
East Africa
Seminar on the Africa-Europe cooperation,
Addis Ababa (Ethiopia), 1-3 November
This seminar were a follow-up of the Africa-Europe Youth
Summit and aimed to bring together governmental and
youth organizations to reflect on the development of
national, regional and local youth policies in Africa.
The monitoring group of the Summit process met on the
eve of the seminar, 30-31 October. The sub-regional
seminar for South and Central Africa will be held in
2010.

Objectives: strengthen the understanding of
participants in relation to the complex process of
globalisation; discuss the role, possibilities and limits of
global youth work as a response to globalisation; reflect on
the challenges identified during the course and ways for
participants and their organisations to address them.
