30 years ago, Sweden was the first country to introduce a
law explicitly prohibiting corporal punishment and any other forms of
violent or emotionally abusive treatment against children. The booklet gives an overview of the efforts and progress of the Swedish legislative process and awareness-raising campaigns, and its impact on attitudes and behaviours on Swedish society. The publication reiterates the necessity and importance of a worldwide ban on corporal punishment.
