Retour Training on Fair Trial standards for lawyers

Training on Fair Trial standards for lawyers

On 14-15 June 2017 Council of Europe (CoE), within the EU funded project, organized two-day training for lawyers on Fair Trial Standards.

The training was aimed at increasing awareness of lawyers on topics such as access to legal assistance during interrogation, plea bargaining, double jeopardy, the right to summon witnesses, the restrictions on the manner in which witnesses are examined and finally the hearsay and preliminary statements by absent witnesses.

The event was organized in the framework of the European Union – Council of Europe joint project “Application of the European Convention on Human Rights and harmonization of national legislation and judicial practice in Georgia in line with European standards”, being implemented under the EU-CoE Partnership for Good Governance.
