Publication of the new Action Plan for Judicial Reform Strategy in Montenegro

The Government of Montenegro adopted a new Action Plan for the implementation of the Strategy for the Reform of the Judiciary for 2021/2022 which sets out activities, results, impact indicators, deadlines, competent authorities and funding sources needed to implement the strategic guidelines defined by the ongoing Judicial Reform Strategy on 9 December 2021.

With the support of the action “Accountability and professionalism of the judicial system in Montenegro”, the Action Plan was recently published, printed and disseminated to all relevant stakeholders, in co-operation with the Ministry of Justice, Human and Minority Rights. The Plan envisages 5 strategic objectives and 115 activities, focusing on strengthening judicial accountability and integrity as an essential component of democracy and respect for human rights.

The European Union and Council of Europe support the implementation of the Judicial Reform of Montenegro, under the joint programme “Horizontal Facility for the Western Balkans and Turkey 2019 - 2022”, which is aimed at assisting beneficiaries in the Western Balkans region and Turkey to comply with the Council of Europe standards and European Union acquis in the framework of the enlargement process, where relevant.
