Back Republic of Moldova: reforming the data protection law

The National Centre for Personal Data Protection of Moldova and the Data Protection Unit held a seminar aimed at examining the amendments on the data protection legislation of the Republic of Moldova. This one-day seminar was organised in the framework of the Council of Europe / European Union Partnership for Good Governance (PGG) under the Joint Project “Enhance the Right to Data Protection in Eastern Partnership Countries” and was a follow-up to the work carried out in 2016.

In the presence of members of the Moldovan Parliament, the seminar provided an opportunity for national experts (Government, Parliament, National Centre, etc.) to discuss the proposed changes to the legislation on the basis of an analysis that had been commissioned to Council of Europe experts.

Participants had also interesting and intense discussions on access to information and protection of privacy and of personal data, which is a topic of strong interest.
