A Council of Europe delegation carried out a scoping mission to Jordan, from 6 to 9 November 2016, in order to assess terrorism-financing risks in the non-profit sector. The delegation met with representatives of the Anti-Money Laundering Unit, the Public security Department, the Ministry of Social Development, the National Registry of Societies, civil society organisations and a financial institution.

On the basis of the information gathered during the mission, policy proposals to enhance the regulatory system for non-profit organisations and guidelines for interagency cooperation and information exchange will be submitted to the authorities for consideration.

Furthermore, a training programme to be delivered in 2017 will also address inspection methodologies for supervising institutions, financial analysis and investigations into terrorism financing related to non-profit organisations.
