Pupils’ online chatroom for “Inclusive day” celebration in Montenegro

Human dignity and human rights, cultural diversity, democracy, justice, fairness, equality and the rule of law are a set of values promoted by the Council of Europe through its Reference Framework of Competencies for Democratic Culture.

More than 40 students from pilot schools reflected on this set of values in the context of their schools and local communities in the online chatroom specifically dedicated to them on the 12 October 2020. With the help of a local expert to moderate the discussion each student presented its “letter to the Council of Europe” describing the values that are especially important to them and to the school, and how they will work on them in order to promote and strengthen those values at individual and school level.

Some very interesting topics emerged during the chatroom discussions and students didn’t hesitate to share their own experiences where they were required to defend their values such as cultural diversity, equality and non-discrimination towards someone’s physical, cultural or religious differences.

The event was organised within the framework of the joint European Union/Council of Europe programme “Horizontal Facility for the Western Balkans and Turkey 2019-2022” and its action “Quality education for all” in Montenegro.
