Civil society organisations (CSOs), including international and national non-governmental organisations, social partners, and representatives of academia are invited to a training session dedicated to the monitoring and implementation of the European Social Charter. The training session will take place on 2 October 2026.

Organised by the Department of Social Rights and the European Committee of Social Rights in partnership with the Conference of International Non-Governmental Organisations (CINGO) and its Sub-Committee on the European Social Charter, the training forms part of the broader capacity-building work undertaken to support stakeholders in making effective use of the European Social Charter.

The European Social Charter is a key Council of Europe human rights treaty protecting fundamental social and economic rights. Its implementation is monitored by the European Committee of Social Rights, a body composed of 15 independent experts elected by the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe.

Civil society organisations play an important role in this monitoring process. Their knowledge of national realities can provide valuable information to the Committee when it assesses the implementation of the Charter.

The training will provide participants with practical information on how they can engage with the Charter's monitoring mechanisms, particularly the reporting procedure and the collective complaints procedure.

By providing civil society organisations with a clearer understanding of the monitoring procedures, the training aims to facilitate stronger and more informed participation in the implementation of social rights across Europe.

It will take place in a hybrid format from 9:30 to 12:00, with participation online and in person. Simultaneous interpretation in English and French will be available.
