On 21-22 November 2018 a training on project management was organised for the representatives of the General Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Moldova within the framework of the Council of Europe Programme “Promoting a human rights compliant criminal justice system in the Republic of Moldova”. During one and a half days more than 20 chief prosecutors enhanced their knowledge and skills in project management tools and techniques. In his welcoming speech Mr Oleg Soldatov, Programme Manager, stressed the importance of organising capacity building activities for criminal justice actors: “Today’s training on project management will increase your efficiency and provide you with the top-notch project management techniques to be used within the new legal framework of the Public Prosecution Service.”

During this training, the participants were educated in various aspects of the Project Management Cycle covering the planning, implementation and evaluation phases. More specifically, the training focused on defining such concepts as project scope, goals, outcomes/outputs; developing and managing project budgets; tracking project outputs using appropriate tools; monitoring and reporting progress to stakeholders; implementing and managing project changes and interventions to achieve project outputs; carrying out project evaluations and assessment of results. Additionally the participants had the opportunity to discuss potential funding opportunities available in the Republic of Moldova.

Ms Lavinia Taranu, the Head of the Project Management Unit at the Romanian Public Ministry, the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the High Court of Cassation and Justice, delivered the training.

The Programme “Promoting a human rights compliant criminal justice system in the Republic of Moldova” is part of the Council of Europe Action Plan for the Republic of Moldova for 2017-2020 and is funded by the Norwegian Government.
