11 police officers from the Republic of Moldova gathered with counterparts in Spain, for exchanges on diversity aspects and policing against hate crime

From 13 to 15 December 2021, 11 representatives of the General Police Inspectorate of Moldova participate in a study visit to the Police of Madrid and Fuenlabrada (Spain), in order to discuss both the community police practices, the diversity aspects in policing and the fight against hate crime.

This activity aims to offer the possibility to the police officers from Moldova to learn from the practice of the Police in Spain on investigating hate crimes, to discover the experience on community policing, but also to exchange knowledge and ideas on improving the work with victims of hate crime.  

Among the activities planned in the framework of the study visit, several meetings for peer exchange are planned, namely to the Local Police Service of Fuenlabrada, Diversity Management Unit of the Police of Madrid, Judicial Police service in Madrid, Merced Migrations Foundation.

The lessons learned from the participation in the study visit, will improve the daily work of Moldavian Police in supporting equality and non-discrimination in the Republic of Moldova.

 

This activity is organised in the framework of the regional project “Strengthening access to justice for victims of discrimination, hate speech and hate crime in the Eastern Partnership”, funded by the European Union and the Council of Europe and implemented by the Council of Europe in the framework of the Partnership for Good Governance phase II.
