The training of trainers for judges on the reasoning of criminal judgments was held on 11-13 November 2019 in Sarajevo. The training, which was organised in cooperation with the Judicial and Prosecutorial Training Centres of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Republika Srpska (JPTCs), focused on how to give thorough arguments for factual and legal conclusions. An important part of the training was also the personalisation of the rationale of decisions on pre-trial detention, where general conditions that are pre-defined by the law should be elaborated with the consideration of individual circumstances. Examples of direct application of the European Convention on Human Rights were discussed.
The objective of the training was to improve the capacities and training skills of the future trainer judges. Following the training, seven judges-participants will deliver trainings on the reasoning of criminal judgements to their peers in 2020.
The training was organised under the project: “Initiative for Legal Certainty and Efficient Judiciary in Bosnia and Herzegovina” funded by the Kingdom of Norway.
