From 20 to 23 May 2025, the Council of Europe organised consecutive training sessions for members of the Georgian Bar Association and representatives of the Public Defender’s Office, respectively. The sessions focused on the execution of judgments of the European Court of Human Rights, with the aim to strengthen national efforts and the effective implementation of the Court’s judgments. Participants examined the legal and procedural framework governing the execution process, enhanced their practical skills for preparing so called “Rule 9” communications and received detailed guidance on the use of the HUDOC EXEC database. A dedicated presentation on Georgian cases pending execution was delivered by a lawyer from the Department for the Execution of Judgments, offering valuable insights into the current challenges and opportunities in the implementation process.
The sessions were marked by active engagement, exchanges between the participants who were proactively discussing the execution process and the strategic use of Rule 9 submissions as tools for advocacy and oversight.
The trainings were organised under the Project “Reinforcing National Execution of the European Court's judgments by Georgia”, implemented within the Council of Europe Action Plan for Georgia 2024-2027
