Consultations on the draft Romanian language curriculum for adult migrants and refugees took place in the Republic of Moldova

On 29 April 2026, the Working Group of the Council of Europe on the development of the Romanian language curriculum for adult migrants and refugees in the Republic of Moldova discussed the draft of the curriculum with representatives of academic and professional communities, civil society organisations, as well as with professionals from the Ministry of Education and Research and the General Inspectorate for Migration of the Republic of Moldova.

The workshop is an important milestone in curriculum development, reinforcing an inclusive and participatory approach. During the event, the participants engaged in structured discussions and small group working sessions, providing feedback on the curriculum’s components, methodology and practical applicability, ensuring that the document reflects the real needs of adult learners, particularly migrants and refugees, and supports their social, economic and civic integration.

The Romanian language curriculum for adult migrants and refugees in the Republic of Moldova, to be accredited by the National Curriculum Council, aims to develop learners’ proficiency in Romanian, thereby facilitating their access to fundamental rights and essential services, including education, employment, healthcare, and other public services.

The workshop was organised under the project “Strengthening the human rights protection of refugees and migrants in the Republic of Moldova: phase II”, funded and implemented under the Council of Europe Action Plan for the Republic of Moldova (2025-2028).
