On March 8, 2023, in Tunis, stakeholders in the fight against human trafficking, from state and non-state structures were trained and made aware of the victims’ personal data protection during their care.

The trainers explained the general regime for the protection of personal data, emphasizing the obligations incumbent on data controllers and the rights that must be guaranteed to victims.
The vulnerable situation of victims of trafficking, as well as the often-sensitive nature of the data collected, require additional protection mechanisms.
The trainers also presented the measures and tools for the protection of the personal data of victims of trafficking put in place by the INLTP such as codification and forms, identification, orientation, and informed consent of victims.
Those involved in the care of victims of trafficking mentioned their best practices in data protection, but also the difficulties they encounter when transferring this data, particularly when it comes to sensitive data such as health records.
Practical cases were presented to the participants, followed by an interesting debate during which each group presented its point of view on the practices to be adopted to protect the personal data of victims.
This seminar was organized with the collaboration of the National Authority for the Fight against Trafficking in Persons (INLTP), as part of the support for the National Authority for the Protection of Personal Data (INPDP), as part of the joint program of the Council of Europe and European Union “Support project for independent institutions in Tunisia” (PAII-T)
