A group of students from "Sami Frashëri" high school in Tirana, accompanied by the school director, teachers and representatives of the Ministry of Education and Sports had the opportunity to visit the offices of the Council of Europe in Strasbourg on June 27-29, to learn more about the Council of Europe. Enthusiastic and eager to extend their knowledge on democracy and human rights, the young people had meetings with the Head of the Education Department at the Council of Europe, Mr. Villano Qiriazi; the Ambassador of the Permanent Mission of Albania in Strasbourg, Mr. Dastid Koreshi; Head of Interparliamentary Cooperation Division in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, Mrs. Liri Kopaci Di Michele; representatives of the European Court of Human Rights, etc. After the presentations, the students engaged in discussions asking specific questions to learn more about the Council of Europe, its work and journey, but also were informed on the latest initiatives of the Council of Europe related to Education for Digital Citizenship.

The students of the "Sami Frashëri" high school were the winning team of the Fake≠Fact video competition organized in February by the Council of Europe project, “Strengthening Democratic Citizenship Education in Albania" within the context the Swedish Institute initiative Fake ≠ Fact. The Council of Europe project “Strengthening Democratic Citizenship Education in Albania" financed by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency, continues implementation since December 2019 with the aim of equipping students with knowledge, skills and competences necessary to promote democratic culture in the school and the community.
