Albanian judges are supported in harmonising judicial practice in line with the European Court of Human Rights’ judgements

30 judges from Berat, Lushnje, Kavaja, Durres, Kruja, Mat, Kurbin and Lezha district courts attended two moderated discussions on the harmonisation of judicial practice in line with the case law of the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) and of the Albanian High Court. The events, organised in close cooperation with the High Judicial Council, complement the other regional trainings organised in fall 2020 and focused on the latest ECtHR’s decision Beshiri v. Albania and the deliberation no. 4/2021 of the Albanian Constitutional Court.

Participants actively discussed on the current challenges and share the experiences on the implementation of the law on the treatment and finalisation of property compensation process (Law 133/2015).

The activity took part in the framework of the action “Supporting enforcement of the judicial decisions and facilitating the execution of ECtHR judgements in Albania” under “Horizontal Facility for the Western Balkans and Turkey II”, a co-operation initiative co-funded by the European Union and the Council of Europe and implemented by the Council of Europe, which aims at ensuring the rights of property owners in Albania are effectively enforced.
