Representatives of pedagogical institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina take part in the workshop on the Competences for Democratic Culture

Representatives of pedagogical institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) including cantonal pedagogical institutes as well as the Pedagogical institution of Brčko District participated in the workshop on the Reference Framework on the Competences for Democratic Culture (RFCDC) organised within the framework of the Horizontal Facility action “Quality education for all”, held in Igman on 4 October.

The workshop aimed to introduce the RFCDC to professionals working in different pedagogical institutions which are a key component in the education sector. The Competences for Democratic Culture are a tool developed by the Council of Europe intended for use by both education policy makers and practitioners, from pre-school through primary and secondary schooling to higher education, including adult education and vocational education.

During the workshop participants learned about the CDC model, including the descriptors and different levels of each of the competences aiming to equip young people with competences which promote human rights, democracy and the rule of law. To live together in a culturally diverse and democratic society is a goal that we all strive for and it can be enhanced using the CDC model, concluded the participants.

The action “Quality education for all” is a part of the joint European Union and the Council of Europe programme “Horizontal Facility for the Western Balkans and Turkey 2019-2022”, implemented by the Council of Europe.
