Closing ceremony of the project: “Promotion of national minorities in the City of Tuzla” was held on Thursday (21/3/2019) in Dramar centre Tuzla. The publication and documentary movie about national minorities in Tuzla were presented during the ceremony. The movie portrays, for the first time, the complete history of national minorities and their contributions when it comes to development of Tuzla. Following the promotion, degustation of presented Albanian, Italian, Macedonian, Roma and Slovenian traditional meals was organised.
Ms Asja Redzic, Head of Department for sports, culture, youth affairs and social welfare of City of Tuzla addressed the audience, emphasised the importance of this event and reminded that, as part of the project, national minorities were presented in five elementary schools in Tuzla where students discussed customs, culture, tradition, language and history in a very unique way to get familiar with the richness of multiculturalism in their city.
“Promotion of the movie and publication about national minorities gives this project purpose as the future generations are left with the first written document and movie about the history and contributions of national minorities in Tuzla. The publication “National minorities in Tuzla” becomes indispensible guideline in interpreting and affirming multiculturalism in Tuzla” said Ms Redzic.
Dragica Tesic, on behalf of Slovenian national minority, and Zana Sokoli, on behalf of Albanian national minority, addressed the participants and spoke enthusiastically about implemented activities. They reminded that cultural heritage was also shown through the event “Day of national minorities”, that was organised with the support of the European Union and the Council of Europe on 7 February 2019 in National theater in Tuzla.
It was pointed out that such events should be regarded as building bridges connecting Tuzla and Bosnia and Herzegovina with the countries of the region.
