As part of its action against human trafficking in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Council of Europe has developed and produced a new Resource package with a Handbook and training materials for improved prevention, detection, and investigation of human trafficking for the purpose of labour exploitation.
The “Resource package on preventing, detecting, and investigating trafficking in human beings for the purpose of labour exploitation” will significantly support the strengthening of capacities of labour inspectors, investigators, employment agencies, and trade unions throughout the country when it comes to preventing trafficking for labour exploitation and protecting victims’ rights.
It will further support Bosnia and Herzegovina in strengthening the prevention and identification of victims of trafficking for the purpose of labour exploitation, with a special focus of at-risk sectors. That way it will contribute to the implementation of relevant recommendations by the Group of Experts on Action against Trafficking in Human Beings (GRETA) in its Third evaluation report.
The developed materials have already been used by trainers certified as part of the Council of Europe project in the period April-June 2024. These expert trainers have conducted their first independent basic trainings in November for about 60 law enforcement officers and labour inspectors. Thanks to their training, together with the new Resource package, these experts will continue to pass the knowledge on to their colleagues.
The Council of Europe project “Strengthening anti-trafficking action in Bosnia and Herzegovina” is implemented in the framework of the Council of Europe’s Action Plan for Bosnia and Herzegovina (2022–2025), funded by voluntary contributions.
