MEDIA ADVISORY: Consultative session on the Draft Law on Civil Partnerships in Montenegro

The Council of Europe and the EU Delegation to Montenegro, in partnerships with the Parliamentary Committee on Human Rights and Freedoms, are organising a consultative session at the Parliament of Montenegro on the Draft Law on Civil Partnerships. The debate will take place on Thursday, 5 March 2020, at 14:30, in the Blue Hall of the Parliament of Montenegro, Bulevar Svetog Petra Cetinjskog 10, Podgorica.

The aim of the event is to open a debate on the importance of ensuring justice and promoting anti-discrimination and protection of the civil rights of LGBTI persons, thus exchange experiences and lessons learned.

Introductory remarks will be given by:

  • Ivan Brajovic, President of the Parliament of the Republic of Montenegro
  • Halil Dukovic, President of the Parliamentary Committee on Human Rights and Freedoms
  • Sinisa Bjekovic, Ombudsman of the Republic of Montenegro
  • Aivo Orav, Head of the Delegation of the European Union to Montenegro
  • Angela Longo, Anti-discrimination Department, Council of Europe

Participants will include representatives of the Parliament of Montenegro, political clubs, the Ministry of Human and Minority Rights, the Ombudsman of Montenegro, civil society organisations, international organisations, European political groups, as well as representatives of: Parliament of the Republic of Croatia - Pedja Grbin and Arsen Bauk, Members of SDP; as well as representative of European Green Party - Melanie Vogel, Committee Member for France.

The meeting will begin at 14.30 and the entire meeting is open to media. Simultaneous interpretation will be provided.
