#TellTheWholeStory: launching of the campaign on availability of the free legal aid for victims of gender-based violence in Montenegro

Victims of the gender-based violence have the right to free legal aid in Montenegro, but only 47 of them a year have applied for it in 2020.

No one can be left behind and the rights of everyone need to be equally protected in Montenegrin society. It is a responsibility of each member of the society to support and help the ones in need.

With this in mind, the European Union and the Council of Europe, in co-operation with the Association of Judges, Supreme Court of Montenegro, Ministry of Justice, Human and Minority Rights and civil society organisations “SOS telephone for women and children victims of violence Podgorica” and “NGO Women´s Rights Centre”, have launched a large-scale awareness raising campaign on availability of the free legal aid in Montenegro.

The campaign is running under the slogan #TellTheWholeStory (#IspričajPričuDoKraja) and it aims at raising awareness on availability of free legal aid in Montenegro, particularly targeting women victims of gender-based violence.

With many materials shared in the public space, on social media, televisions and other media, the European Union and the Council of Europe wish to encourage any victim of gender-based violence to #TellTheWholeStory.

The campaign has been launched within the action "Improved procedural safeguards in judicial proceedings in Montenegro", that is a part of the joint European Union/Council of Europe programme “Horizontal Facility for the Western Balkans and Turkey 2019-2022”.
