The Global Education Week
The Global Education Week (GEW) is an international awareness-rising initiative that inspires people to take action for a more sustainable and inclusive world. Through local initiatives and learning activities, it promotes civic engagement, global solidarity, and active citizenship for sustainable development. The GEW is organised within the framework of iLEGEND III: Intercultural Learning Exchange through Global Education, Networking and Dialogue, a joint project co-funded by the European Union and the Council of Europe.
Everyone is welcome to participate and contribute to making a difference.
Global Education helps learners to develop individual and collective responses to social, ecological, political, economic, and ethical issues of common concern. It mobilises commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and in particular SDG 4.7: Education for sustainable development and global citizenship.
The Global Education Week:
Puts global education on the agenda
When hundreds of thousands of people act together, something powerful happens. Collective mobilisation raises awareness, shifts narratives, and shows that Global Education is a powerful tool for sustainable development, justice and inclusion.
Turns participants into changemakers
People don't just attend, they grow. Every activity builds the critical thinking, confidence, and know-how to keep driving change long after the Global Education Week ends.
Builds solidarity, one action at a time
GEW fosters a sense of solidarity across borders and cultures, essential to advancing together towards a common, sustainable future.
By participating, you can:
Learn: Discover fresh perspectives on the world's most pressing challenges, and the people working to address them.
Connect: Build bridges with people and organisations across borders, cultures, and disciplines.
Act: Move beyond awareness and take concrete steps toward a more sustainable and inclusive future, starting right where you are.
Inspire others: Empower the people around you to step up as global citizens and act for the change they want to see.
The Global Education Week is an awareness-raising initiative implemented by the North-South Centre of the Council of Europe and the Global Education Network in the framework of the iLEGEND III, a joint programme of the European Union and the Council of Europe: co-funded by the European Union and the Council of Europe.
The activities organised in the framework of the Global Education Week are the sole responsibility of the implementing partners and do not necessarily reflect the views of the European Union or the Council of Europe.
