Under the Project being implemented by the Council of Europe and supported by the Norwegian Embassy the Constitutional Court received the former judge of the European Court of Human Rights (the Court) in respect of North Macedonia, Ms Mirjana Lazarova-Trajkovska. Her five-day visit was organised within the Project “Improving the Protection of European Human Rights Standards by the Constitutional Court”.

Ms Mirjana Lazarova-Trajkovska, a former judge of the Court with comprehensive experience in the national constitutional court as well, took part in numerous meetings with judges and legal advisors of the Constitutional Court, where they discussed particular cases of the application of the European Convention on Human Rights and working methods of the Court. More similar visits by high-level experts with judicial experience in national high level courts and international courts are envisaged under the Project as well as round tables on various topics and placements with the Court.

This visit is a significant contribution to the ongoing efforts of the Constitutional Court to advance the quality of its working process and improve the application of the European Human Rights standards in dealing with individual constitutional complaints.
