GREVIO adopts its 1st thematic questionnaire on the theme “Building trust by delivering support, protection and justice”

The Group of Experts on Action against Violence against Women and Domestic Violence (GREVIO), at its 28th meeting on 13 October 2022, adopted a new questionnaire in preparation of the launch of its 1st thematic evaluation round. Building on the questionnaire developed for its baseline evaluation procedure that began in 2016 and is still on-going in respect of state parties which ratified the Istanbul Convention more recently, it aims to assess the level of implementation of the Istanbul Convention through the theme of “Building trust by delivering support, protection and justice”.

The new questionnaire has been adopted in line with Article 68, paragraph 3 of the Istanbul Convention and Article 30 of the Rules of Procedure of GREVIO, which mandate GREVIO, following the completion of its baseline evaluation procedure on the full spectrum of provisions of the convention by each state party, to carry out subsequent evaluation procedures divided into rounds. Under the Rules of Procedure, at the beginning of each round, GREVIO shall select the specific provisions on which the evaluation procedure shall be based and shall send out a questionnaire. The new questionnaire will, therefore, be sent to all states parties which have undergone the baseline evaluation procedure, in the same order followed for the baseline evaluation. States parties will be requested to transmit to GREVIO a reply to the questionnaire within five months from the date it was sent.
