On 22 November, the Council of Europe Programme for Human Rights Education for Legal Professionals (HELP) was presented to the students of the Institute for International Relations of the Taras Shevchenko University in Kyiv, Ukraine. The presentation was attended by a mixed group of Ukrainian and international students of the Institute.

The introductory remarks were provided by Alla Fedorova, associate professor at the Institute and HELP national tutor of several courses launched in Ukraine.

The presentation started with an introduction to the work of the Council of Europe and an overview of the HELP online courses, emphasising the benefits of the use of the HELP courses as educational material for university students. It was followed by a questions and answers session with the students.

The students of the Institute already benefit from several HELP courses, including the course on Introduction to the European Convention on Human Rights and the European Court of Human Rights, the course on Admissibility criteria in applications submitted to the European Court of Human Rights and the course on Labour Rights.

A HELP Training-of-Trainers session for the Institute’s academic staff is planned for the first half of 2020, in view of intensifying the cooperation between the Institute and the Council of Europe HELP Programme and the increased use of the HELP courses by the Institute.
