17th meeting of the Gender Equality Commission of the Council of Europe, 8-9 July 2020

The Council of Europe’s Gender Equality Commission (GEC) will hold its 17th meeting via videoconference from 8 to 9 July 2020. It is planned to hold an in-depth discussion on the COVID-19 pandemic and its impact on gender equality. The GEC will also prepare for the first meeting of the Drafting Committee tasked to prepare a Recommendation on migrant women in 2020-2021 to be proposed for adoption by the Committee of Ministers. There will also be a presentation by the Office of the Secretary General’s Special Representative for Migration and Refugees. The GEC will discuss the forthcoming workshop on “Advancing Gender Equality: The Role and Situation of Institutional Mechanisms for Gender Equality in the Aftermath of Covid-19” which is being organised in partnership with the Greek Presidency of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe and which will take place in Athens on 14 October 2020.
