ECRI held its 101st plenary meeting in Strasbourg, which took place from 30 June to 3 July 2026.
On 1 July, ECRI held an exchange of views with Tracie Keesee, Chairperson of the United Nations Expert Mechanism to Advance Racial Justice and Equality in Law Enforcement (EMLER), Gün Kut, Chairperson of the United Nations Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination (CERD), and Isabelle Mamadou, Chairperson of the United Nations Working Group of Experts on People of African Descent (WGEPAD), on racial profiling by law enforcement officials.
As part of its sixth country monitoring cycle, ECRI adopted its final report on Ukraine. It also adopted its conclusions on the implementation of its recommendations subject to interim follow-up addressed to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Liechtenstein, Malta, San Marino and Serbia.
As part of its seventh country monitoring cycle, it adopted its final reports on Belgium, Czechia, Denmark and Norway.
ECRI also held discussions on the basis of the report made by its working group on relations with civil society and equality bodies.
ECRI members also took note of the statements made by Zeynep Yıldız, observer appointed by the Committee on Committee on Culture, Science, Education and Media of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), Sena Nur Çelik Kanat, observer appointed by the PACE Committee on Political Affairs and Democracy, Martine Dieschburg-Nickels, observer appointed by the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe and Deputy Standing Rapporteur of the Congress on Human Rights, Thierry Rambaud, observer in respect of the Holy See, and Michaela Moua, observer in respect of the European Union (EU) and EU Commission’s Anti-Racism Coordinator.
On 29 June 2026, on the eve of the 101st plenary meeting, the ECRI Bureau held an exchange of views with Heli Suominen, Head of the Council of Europe’s Media Department.
