Slovenia initiatives to promote Digital Citizenship Education

The Slovenian Ministry of Education has embarked on a two-years long pilot project aimed at raising awareness and promoting Digital Citizenship Education (DCE). In collaboration with various stakeholders, and in consultation with the Council of Europe, the project marks a significant step in the commitment to fostering DCE and its ten digital domains, in line with Recommendation CM/Rec(2019)10.

In this scope the Ministry organised a workshop on 27 February 2024 which informed relevant about the Council of Europe’s concept of digital citizenship education and respective resources. With insights from Council of Europe experts, workshop participants brainstormed possible joint activities to promote DCE and delineated project ideas for the upcoming years.

A consortium of selected partners, including Civil Society Organizations and public institutions, will be set up to work together and implement activities, mostly within education institutions, while also allowing for increased partnerships and therefore ensuring sustainability.

The meeting with representatives of the Slovenian Ministry of Education also served to reaffirm Slovenia involvement in the 2025 European Year of Digital Citizenship Education, and to discuss collaboration on further initiatives, including the DCE Planner and the review of the Committee of Ministers Recommendation.
