Apply for the 2024 Stefano Rodotà Award!

We have the great pleasure to announce that the Committee of Convention 108 launches the call for applications to the 2024 Stefano Rodotà Award (6th edition of the competition).

The award honours the memory of Stefano Rodotà, prominent Italian law professor and politician who championed the promotion of the right to data protection. The prize acknowledges innovative and original academic research projects or publications by young students or researchers in personal data protection. The competition is open to students and researchers from all regions of the world participating in the work of the Committee of Convention 108.

The winners will be invited to make a presentation of their work to the Committee of Convention 108 (T-PD) in an upcoming plenary meeting of the Committee. This will be a tremendous opportunity for the winners to present their work to a global forum of renowned international personal data protection experts and policymakers from some 90 countries, international institutions and data protection authorities. Do not miss the opportunity to have a remarkable impact on the policymaking in data protection!

Competition rules   Application form

The Stefano Rodotà Award is granted biennially by the Committee of Convention 108.

  • The Stefano Rodotà Award honours innovative and original academic research projects in the field of data protection with a preferable focus on the legal instruments of the Council of Europe.
  • The competition is open to students and researchers from members or observers of the Committee of Convention 108.
  • The Jury of the Stefano Rodotà Award is composed of the members of the Bureau of the Committee of Convention 108.
  • The selected research is unveiled officially at the Committee’s June plenary meeting. The winner has the opportunity to present his/her work at the plenary session of the Committee of Convention 108.

 


 

 

The Prize is awarded in honour and memory of the leading Italian law Professor and politician, Stefano Rodotà, who worked throughout his life to promote fundamental rights, particularly for the development and implementation of the right to data protection in Europe, leaving an indelible mark on the framing of European policy in this field.
