In the margins of UN Counter-terrorism Week 2023, the Council of Europe Counter-terrorism Coordinator, Mr Carlo Chiaromonte, and Ambassador Päivi Kairamo, Chair of the CDCT and Ambassador for Counterterrorism Cooperation, Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland, met with Ms Natalia Gherman, Executive Director of the UN Counter-Terrorism Committee Executive Directorate (CTED) at United Nations Headquarters in New York.

They discussed the important work carried out by both the Council of Europe and CTED in the area of counter-terrorism and the need for international counter-terrorism efforts to be conduct in respect of human rights and the rule of law. They agreed on the need for enhanced cooperation between CTED and the Council of Europe and pledged to support further engagement in future activities.
