Back Georgian authorities trained about measures to prevent money laundering through misuse of legal entities and offshore centres

Training on transparency of beneficial ownership, misuse of offshore centres, legal entities and legal arrangements for money laundering and terrorist financing, and controlling financial flows from high-risk countries takes place on 3-4 December 2018 in Tbilisi, Georgia.

Representatives of the Georgian Financial Intelligence Unit (Financial Monitoring Service) and domestic institutions responsible for anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing (AML/CTF) supervision from the National Bank, Insurance State Supervision Service, Ministry of Finance, Revenue Service, Service Agency of the Ministry of Finance, Accounting, Reporting and Auditing Oversight Service, National Agency of Public Registry, Chamber of Notary and Georgian Bar Association attend the training

During the two-days, the participants will discuss about risks associated with complex beneficial ownership structures and implications for AML/CTF supervision, methods for implementation of efficient supervision and best practice on obtaining and sharing information. The participants in the training will also learn on analysing high risks linked to cross border and national financial flows and context in which offshore zones, legal entities and legal arrangements can be misused for money laundering and terrorist financing purposes. Each discussion item is accompanied with case studies tailored to the needs of the institutions conducting supervision over financial and non-financial sector.
