Back Typologies of corruption affecting entrepreneurs and impact of inspections on businesses at the municipal level discussed in Novorossiysk

PRECOP II project brought together over 70 representatives of Federal and Regional Business Ombudsmen Offices from 15 regions, executive and legislative bodies and business associations of the Krasnodar krai, as well as representatives of international donor community to participate in two regional workshops held in Novorossiysk on 9 February 2018.

The objective of the workshops was two-fold: 1) to present main findings and recommendations of the studies on “Typologies of corruption affecting the business sector at the regional and municipal levels of the Russian Federation” and “Impact of inspections on business processes at municipal level” prepared by the Council of Europe international and national experts with the input of the respective Expert Working Groups consisting of representatives of beneficiary institutions and covering 6 project pilot regions during the first year of project implementation; and 2) discuss the methodology and questionnaires used to prepare the studies in order to further adjust them on the basis of lessons learned and feedback received from the participants for the next phase of the project that entails expanding the studies to cover nine new pilot regions.

Opening speeches were delivered by Federal Ombudsman for the Protection of the Rights of Entrepreneurs, Director of the Office of the Directorate General of Programmes of the Council of Europe, Ambassador of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg to the Russian Federation, Deputy Chairman of the Legislative Assembly of the Krasnodar krai, Prosecutor of Novorossiysk, Deputy Director of the Department of European Cooperation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, and Head of the Council of Europe Programme Office in the Russian Federation.
