As a part of the Egmont Plenary Meeting (6–11 July 2025) hosted by the Luxembourg Financial Intelligence Unit (Cellule de Renseignement Financier (CRF)), the Conference of the Parties to CETS No. 198 held a targeted workshop on asset recovery.
The event brought together representatives of financial intelligence units from around the globe, as well as experts from various international organisations. The workshop offered an in-depth analysis of the added value that the CETS No. 198 brings to the international standards landscape on asset recovery. The President of the Conference of the Parties, Ms Oxana Gîsca, along with its Scientific Expert and Executive Secretary, participated in the discussions, joined by representatives of three states parties – Latvia, the United Kingdom, and Aruba (Kingdom of the Netherlands). Together, they exchanged views and explored the mechanisms provided by CETS No.198 to support effective asset recovery.
The workshop marked another important step in the Council of Europe’s ongoing commitment to advancing the implementation of its standards and fostering international cooperation, both within Europe and beyond.
