Andorran Commission for Childhood and Adolescence meets to discuss its National Action Plan

On 19 November 2021, the Andorran Commission for Childhood and Adolescence met in Andorra La Vella to discuss potential actions to be included in their first National Action Plan on Childhood and Adolescence.

The National Action Plan is being developed to support the implementation of the Qualified Law 14/2019 on the rights of children and adolescents over the period of 4 years. It will have three main axes: 1) Recognising the full citizenship of children and adolescents and ensuring the exercise of their rights, 2) Facilitating opportunities for personal growth and development of children and adolescents, and 3) Protecting children and adolescents against all types of neglect, risk, and abuse.

The Technical Committee and the Andorran Ministries, in cooperation with Council of Europe independent experts, carried out extensive child and youth consultations, receiving suggestions from more than 500 respondents aged between 6 and 18 years old on activities to be included in the National Action Plan.

The Council of Europe gave welcoming remarks and reiterated its support to the Andorran authorities in the development of the National Action Plan. The Commission will meet again on 17 December 2021 to discuss further steps and plans to publish the National Actional Plan in 2022.
